Palm Print & Handstands

Legging: Zara Terez exclusively for Carbon 38 // Sports Bra: Michi NY via Carbon 38 // Tank & Sneakers: Puma // Sunnies: Ditto Endless Eyewear Program

What you don't do hand stands in  front of your garage? Well when you live in the middle of now where sometimes you have to make the gym come to you. These Zara Terez leggings that were made exclusively for Carbon 38 make it much easier for me to be willing to workout at home. The oh so trendy summer palm print is a favorite of mine, Zara Terez also makes the cityscape and emoji leggings, you have probably seen them on your instagram and if not you need to head to Carbon 38 now and get a good giggle out of all the fun prints.

For me workout leggings are a make it or break it when it comes to working out, I am so particular when it comes to what material my leggings are made from. I hate cotton leggings, they breath weird and get so sweaty and are too stretchy, then there are the weird polyester leggings that make your thighs feel like a slip and slide when the rub together (don't even play and say your thighs don't rub together), not a fan of that at all. Or when the material is not thick enough that you can totally see through them or they won't stay and snug around your waist and bum. These leggings are a great material, they are much like the Michi NY ones I wore from Carbon 38 a little while back, not to mention they are so so fun! I have also found that Fabletics makes pretty good leggings with nice, soft and sturdy materials and very reasonable prices.

Black & Blue : Half Marathon Training

Leggings: Michi NY c/o Carbon 38 // Bra: Onzie c/o Carbon 38 // Top: Fabletics // Sneakers: PUMA // Sunnies; Karen Walker

I decided to inspire you all and myself to workout this weekend. Ending Friday on a sporty note. After a week full of sickness being healthy is for sure on my to do list this weekend. There is only one plus side to having the stomach bug and not being able to eat a thing all week....putting your jeans on and having them feel loose...while I know as soon as I finally get a meal down that will be gone, I will take it as a win for the week....#winning

This weekend hopefully I will be able to continue my half marathon training, I have been slacking, I ran 4.5 miles with my mom (now almost two weeks ago) and felt really good and I could have kept going, mainly because I find it so much easier to run with someone and a recent revelation..without headphones! The headphones part is weird I know but it just does not help me at all for some reason, maybe I just need to update my tunes? I want to try to get one long run in this weekend, hopefully upwards of 5+ miles maybe even 6+,  I just wish I could convince the hubby to run with me, and I would bring the dog but he is totally built for speed, not for long distance running, I took him on a ONE mile run once and he threw up on me! UGH

Anyways, this workout gear from Carbon 38 is on point, as always, you already know how I feel about the brand! It for sure is only helping me when it comes getting my run on, like I always say there is nothing better than feeling good about what you are wearing when you are working out. I hope your weekend consists of tons of relaxing, maybe some gardening and a long run...sounds quite dreamy to me!

For Women by Women // Oiselle

Top, Tights & Sports Bra : Oiselle c/o // Sneakers: Puma ($70)

Oiselle is one of my favorite types of brands, for women by women. The idea of women building product for other women, is so amazing. The only people who really know what women want, are well, women. Instead of shooting each other down, I have tons of love for companies that are all about building women up. Oiselle is known for using real women athletes in their runway shows, and promoting strong, muscular and healthy women.  I have always been an huge advocate of women and all things women's rights. I consider myself a modern day Rosie the Riveter. Did you know one of the sports I played is ice hockey? I played on the "boy's" team in high school & I got a lot of flack for it, but at the end of the day it taught me most of my life lessons...all in 2 very long years.

1. What does not kill you makes you stronger
2. Stand up for what you believe is right, even if you are standing alone
3. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't
4. Who run the world?..GIRLS!

Kidding about that last one, I stole from my girl Beyonce, but seriously though. I would say sports and always being happy with who I am have got me to where I am today, and to be honest I am really happy with who I have become, not to toot my own horn (Toot, Toot!) When you look back, you realize that everything that happens, happens for a reason, and each experience and every trial and tribulation make you who you are, and while I still want to say some nasty things and throw rotten eggs at those people who made my life oh so frustrating, I will digress and say thank you. Thank you for helping me grow into the kick ass person I am today. (JERKS!)

On another note, have any of you thought of running a marathon or half marathon? My "real" job is in the athletic footwear industry and all we do is talk about running. I am thinking of running a half at the end of this summer, and well I have run a lot in my life time, never a half marathon. That is 13.2 long miles. I think I am going to go for it, I don't have much else going on this summer and I think it will be a great way to stay in shape and stay active when I don't want to be in a studio/gym when the weather is nice. I do think if you are thinking of running a half, or a full marathon or even a 5k you need to really be committed. Do any of you athletes who are so used to running being a punishment have any suggestions for me?!

Happy Friday all! Hope you learned a little bit more about me today, if you have not noticed, I am very honest and always speak my mind..flaw or fabulous? You choose ;)

Beach Workout with Lucy Activewear

Top, Tank & Leggings: Lucy c/o // Sneakers: Puma // Sunnies: Karen Walker via Ditto Endless Eyewear Program ($19/month)

Can you feel the excitement in these photos for being able to workout outside, on the beach. Life is just so good by the beach in the warm weather, it is just so much easier to stay in shape when you aren't buried by 7+ feet of snow. I always wonder why we don't live in a warmer climate, where I can drink my coffee on the porch every morning and take a walk on the beach, grab a bench and do some squat jumps or go for a run, just being outside in general any day of the week is so relaxing. What are we thinking living in New England!?

Our vacation is going by so fast, my parents were down here in Florida for a few of the days we were here, it was nice to be on vacation together, but we indulged in many drinks and TONS of food. We each ate 3.5 lbs of lobster one night, with apps and dessert(s). To say all the working out before the trip was worth it was an understatement, but at the same time, I need to get back in gear. With that said, let me tell you about these leggings I am wearing, they are from Lucy Activewear, They include a technology called xBAR Technology, which is a zoned power mesh system which supports major muscle groups with targeted compression that also smooths, shapes and aids in alignment and form. The mesh panel is right in the core area, and it was great not only for alignment but for that extra piece of cheesecake I ate at dinner the night before. I am also wearing this adorable lime green tank and cute long sleeve from Lucy as well. The quality of their pieces is amazing, and the prices are very reasonable considering. I have been a fan of Lucy for a while when my mom and I discovered them in the mall one day, and now they are everywhere!

Best Body: Push Ups

Tights & Sports Bra : Michi  // Top: Onzie
All pieces via Carbon 38

Ever since I have gotten into Barre and all of these studio workouts it has become a lot easier to do effective workouts at home, I am picking up favorite moves from all of my classes and starting to do them in the mornings when I wake up or when I am watching TV at night. One of my go to moves is push up's, I have always been a fan and have recently fallen back into a love/hate relationship with them. Push up's are so great for so many reasons;  they work your arms, abs, upper and lower back, and your chest muscles, the fact that you are working so many muscles at once you get your heart rate pumping and that in-turn helps boost your metabolism and burn calories. The other great part about push up's are you don't need any equipment, you can start with 1 and work up to 100 (or more),  and the more you do them the better you get. You can also throw some planks in the mix for your core, which is a key part of your body when it comes it health and wellness. You can start doing push ups on your knees, but I dare you to try a non modified push up, just one, and then tomorrow try two, the next day three and so on. I promise you will notice a difference and see how strong you get because by week two you will most likely be able to do around 14 and that's a super impressive amount! (Don't you love my GIF of my push up's)

Remember how I was talking about my obsession with Carbon 38, well this is why, how amazing is all of this workout gear? I mean really, if these pieces don't make you want to workout I'm not sure what will. I wore this exact outfit in Vegas to workout and got so many compliments on my walk from my room to the gym! Usually I  run and change after a workout but I felt so great in these I ended up going to grab breakfast and still got more compliments at the coffee shop! I am in love with the sculpted hemline not only in this sports bra but in tops and dresses this season, I love when my workout gear is just as on trend as my everyday wardrobe. I am such a believer in good workout clothes, good workout.

5 Tips To Help Get Back In Shape

Leggings: Under Armour // Top: TJMaxx // Tank: VSX by Victoria's Secret // Shoes: Puma // Sunnies: Ray Ban

So my hubby and I used to be gym rats, like every night for hours. Not to mention we were planning a wedding so I was trying to be in the best shape possible. After the wedding things went down hill. We were coming off the high of the wedding, We moved, it is so hard to get back into a routine when you move, it was summer, and who has time for hitting a gym when you can do things like yard work and gardening (which mind you is still a form of workout). Then my hubby got sick, which was not fun, and it made it a very very good excuse for me not to go to the gym.  Really just a little less than a year full of excuses and reason to not workout. Now we are in the dead of winter wanting to get back into the gym. I have some tips and suggestions on how to get back into the gym after a long hiatus.

Tip 1: Sign up for a class or a trainer  that costs money to miss

This tip is what totally turned my fitness routine around. I told you all I signed up for classpass, the great thing about classpass and the annoying thing about classpass is that once you sign up for a class, if it is within 24 hours they charge you $20 if you miss the class. So when you feel like backing out last minute, you wont because think of all that Starbucks you can buy with that $20, not to mention you totally deserve one after class anyways! If you aren't into taking classes, or don't have classpass in your area, sign up for a trainer who charges for late cancellation, and worst case -- ask someone in your life to charge you if you ditch them and miss the gym, someone you know who would actually take your money and not feel bad, we all have those people in our lives! The other great thing about signing up is that you schedule your workout into your day, not just assume you will have time to workout. I have started to plan my workouts a week in advance, time, date and location. It literally has been the best thing I could have done for myself.

Tip 2: Try a few new workouts; pick one you really enjoy

I have taken a TON of classes in all of my years working out, I used to be a bodypump addict, and I still love it but there are no good gyms near me that have a class & teacher I like. I never thought I would get into classes like Barre or Pilates, because I didn't think they were hard enough and I was a college athlete, I need to lift weights and do only sports condition type classes, while I still do love those classes, the Barre and Btone classes I have taken have kicked my ass more than any sports conditioning class I have taken. I got so sore in my first Btone class I could hardly get into bed or sit on the toilet. It was the best sore I have ever felt. (More on my obsession with Btone later). You need to try a few new workouts, you will be surprised what you may like! You have to want to workout

Tip 3: Buy some new gear

Don't go crazy and buy a whole new workout wardrobe, but buy one or two nice workout pieces that you look & feel great in, and that you really are looking forward to wear. If you only buy one or two pieces you can reward yourself once you actually start working out religiously with more pieces. (an who knows maybe you will need a new size!) If you workout everyday you will for sure need more outfits! If you are not feeling good about how you look and how you feel you will never want to go to the gym, and while you are at the gym you will be pulling and fixing yourself. You need to walk into the gym with your head held high your booty looking good in your tights, your boobs supported by the most amazing sports bra you could find and maybe even some new sneaks. Try these on for size! They are only $70 and are amazing.

Tip 4: Don't underestimate yourself, or think you look stupid

Lets be honest if you ask 5 out of 10 people in the gym, or in the class you are taking, they feel even more awkward and think they look way less fit than you.  Just pretend like you know what you are doing, ask questions, push yourself. You will be surprised when the next time you are in class or at the gym someone asks you for your help because you look like you know what you are doing!

Tip 5: Don't Quit

This is the obvious one, you need to workout. The more you workout the better you feel. Be realistic with yourself you aren't going to have six pack abs overnight, even though if that was an option we would all totally take it. Take baby steps. I promise, after one week of dedicated workouts you will feel so much better! Add in some healthy eats and you will be bikini ready in no time!

Tie Dye Tights & New Workouts

Tights: TJMaxx / Top: Target / Sports Bra: TJMaxx

Don't judge my form...yet. I have been mentioning to you all that I have been trying new classes with classpass. I signed up on Jan 18th and have yet to look back! I have tried so many classes that took me out of my comfort zone it has been beyond amazing. I am your typical  tomboy "athlete" I played tons of sports my whole life and into college. I am happy I played because boy it kept me in shape through college where everyone else was gaining the freshman 15, I was more ripped my freshman year than I probably ever will be in my life. I am used to sprints, lifting weights, running and being pushed to my limits. While, I still love workouts like that, I am getting "older" and my body needed something new to try. With that I reluctantly tried Barre and Pilates -- boy I have been missing out. I haven't been that sore in a long time. btone is where I first tried pilates and it was an amazing workout, parts of my body I didn't even know I had were sore, and exhale spa core  fusion barre in Boston's Battery Wharf was where I first tried Barre -- wow, I thought I was strong, barre is a whole new world and use of your body compared to typical sports and weight lifting. I am addicted to say the least. I love that these workouts will get my long, lean and toned. It is pretty easy for me to get "buff" as my body type is athletic, but it is a whole other game getting my body long and lean. I am excited for what is to come, and you bet that I will keep you all updated along the way! My next trial is yoga...I have tried it once before but didn't get it at the time, I think I am old enough to appreciate and really try something new this time around!

I hope you all are sticking to your new years resolutions, I am so glad I am -- I have not felt this good in a long time! It is also finally giving me the excuse to buy new workout clothes and not feel bad because I am actually wearing them..literally everyday. ;)

Have you tired anything new that took you out of your comfort zone?
