Maroon & Mustard: Winter Wind Down

Heels: DSW // All other pieces: Primark

So I took another hiatus. What else is new. Our life has been a bit all over the place and I have been struggling to keep everything together and organized. I am happy that the winter here is seeming to be winding down, but here in New England you really can never tell. We had a very mild winter compared to last winter where we were buried in snow taller than my car. I don't mind a mild winter, but I would like a little snow on Christmas and a few snow days from work here and there, I mean if I can't get that why do I live in New England?

Lets talk about this outfit though, I did a large haul at Primark Boston before the holidays and I am still loving everything I ended up with. I have been trying to keep in mind my closet when shopping, I always seem to buy multiples of stuff because i'm like ohh this is cute...then I get home and have 4 others...Do you ever go through a phase where you just hate everything in your closet and are just not feeling it? I think I am in one of those ruts right now and I think that's why I have had trouble blogging. I LOVE change, I know its weird but my husband is the same way, I think whats why we live such a hectic life! lol I think I need to change it up..cut my hair..clean out my closet and get a fresh start. The end of the winter is the perfect time to do that....this out fit will say...for sure...others..yea those may be out! If I do a closet clean out i'll be sure to let you all know so you can buy my goodies on Primark or something similar! =)

Happy Monday Ya'll, here's to that last week in February!

p.s. this beanie tho...I got it in maroon and in white...oops!

Maroon Heels

Fedora: Nordstrom (exact same for $30 here) // Sweater: Ann Taylor (similar) // Jeans: Primark (similar $38) // Heels: DSW // Crossbody: Michael Kors // Sunnies: Karen Walker

I am sorry I have been slacking on outfit posts and the blog in general lately. I have been pouring my heart and soul into my new floral business (www.flowersbyjustine.net) to make sure it gets up and running in the exact way I want it to. So currently I have three full time jobs, this blog, the flower business and my actual real life day job. Not to mention my "real" job takes me 1.5 hours each way to get to and from work, so that is 3 hours out of my day already just driving. That does not leave many hours left for much else. Especially with this dang daylight savings ish that happened. I am not complaining and two of the three of the jobs are by choice and my pure need to have an outlet and do my own thing. It does take a toll on me some days. With that said this weekend we decided to stay home (for once) and just relax, we blew leaves and did fall yard projects, I cleaned the house and the spare room (where my clothes live) and  my parents came up and took us out to eat which is always amazing.

Anways. I promise to be better, or well I promise to try to be better. I am obsessed with this outfit. Like legit in love. My mom got these heels for me a few weeks back from DSW and they are my new favorite. They are the perfect fall color, the perfect height to wear all the time and they were on sale, dah! I am a sucker for off the shoulder cozy sweaters, and ripped denim, so this look as a whole was for sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Speckled Clutch // Munich Apartment

Shorts: Banana Republic // Tunic: Old Navy // Shoes: DSW (similar, similar $13) // Sunnies: Retro Super Future via Ditto // Clutch: Walter & George // Bracelet: Ann Taylor

Hi!!...so please ignore the bruises on my legs...forever bumping into things!

So this was the balcony of the adorable Munich apartment my brother and his wife Air B&B'd for the week. The weather was pretty much perfect every day I was there so this adorable plant filled porch was dreamy and oh so perfect. I always leave Europe thinking.."Man I have too much stuff, then  I come home and buy more...typical American ways...;)

Everyone calls the hem of these shorts something different. Banana Republic calls it a dolphin hem(which I kind of like), I usually just call it a curved hem. I know I have said this a million times before but I will buy anything and everything with a dolphin hem, I am 5'2 (on a good day) and can use any help I can get in the leg lengthening department. The dolphin hem shows a little extra leg and giving you the perfect amount of lengthening and elongating. It just adds that small detail to pieces that takes them one step above the rest. I especially love this hem in shorts because they tend to hug my legs and body a bit more than dresses, but skirts, and dresses also sometimes come with this dreamy hem, I have a similar skirt from JCrew Factory with this curved hem (seen here).

Can we also talk about this clutch? This clutch is from a wonderful artisan and online shop called Walter & George. Handmade, leather for such an affordable price. I literally have been carrying this clutch with me everywhere since it arrived in the mail. Germany, Italy, Boston, Rhode Island and more! I love that this bag is getting better and better with time, the more I use it the more wrinkles and wear marks it gets. Melissa is the owner of W&G and she said a quote I just can't get out my my head, and it makes me so happy to find someone so genuine and real making amazing products like this one! Melissa: "I couldn't afford to buy myself a leather bag, so I decided to make one. You shouldn't have to go in debt to have cool things."

Pink off the shoulder - what's old is new

Top: Zara (similar) // Skirt: Forever 21 (similar) // Clutch: Cole Haan // Earrings: c/o Kendra Scott Via Maya Collection // Pumps: Make Me Chic // Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs c/o Sunglasses Shop

One of the things that gets me every time about fashion is that what goes around comes around. While sometimes it takes many many years for things to come back. My mom always says to me, OMG I had something exactly like that (mind you most of the time she got rid of it!) Or when skinny jeans first came out, I swore I would never wear them, now I don't know what I would do without them. My favorite part about fashion is that the pendulum always swings.

Well now that this whole off the shoulder trend is happening again this season I knew I had a top at one point or another that was off the shoulder, so when I was cleaning my closet the other day I looked through the bags I put together of "get rid of this bag in a few months, only if I don't come looking for something in here"  I hate the feeling of looking for something only to realize I just got rid of it! So now I put things aside, wait a "few" months or until that season is over and then either consign the clothes or donate them. If I didn't come looking for it I wont. I think I bought this top two years ago from Zara and never got around to wearing it, I just could never figure out what to wear it with, now that I wore it once I also can see myself tucking this into a pair of white jeans or with jean shorts for a more laid back beach look.
